Hip arthroplasty

The total hip arthroplasty is one of the most successful procedures at all in medicine. More than 100,000 hip prostheses are implanted every year in Italy. Thanks to new and better materials those prostheses are capable of withstanding wearing off and are very durable, even in young patients. Due to the democratic change of our society it is very likely that in the future an even larger number of prostheses will be implanted every year. At our department hip replacement surgery has a long tradition and all installations are carried out with Minimally Invasive techniques that allow faster functional recovery with minimal scars.

The most frequent indications for a total hip replacement are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, post-traumatic osteoarthritis, avascular necrosis of the hip and the secondary deformations due to pediatric diseases.
